Diaphanous Nautilus
Diaphanous Nautilus (#DAFCF6) is a soft teal with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (169°, 85%, 92%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
From the Greek diaphanēs, transparent — used as a color modifier since the seventeenth century for hues with the optical translucency of fine fabric. Diaphanous white, diaphanous pink: very low saturation combined with the optical impression of light passing through. Sits at the pale-bucket alongside sheer.
Nautilus pompilius, the chambered nautilus — a living-fossil cephalopod whose mother-of-pearl interior shell is the source of abalone-style iridescence.
