Sifted Jericho
Sifted Jericho (#DACCED) is a soft indigo with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (265°, 48%, 86%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary lime. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.

Old English siftan, to sift — past-participle of sift. As a color modifier, sifted implies a pale-and-fine-particle-and-uniformly-distributed quality, the pale color of baker's sifted-and-fine-flour finely-distributed-and-uniform-deposit surface-finish. Sits at the pale-and-soft end of the grid, parallel to dusted and sprinkled in usage.
Ancient Levantine city (continuously occupied since 9000 BCE) — and a secondary Tyrian-purple production site supplying the inland Judean and Idumean courts. Jericho color refers to a Jericho-produced Tyrian-purple-dyed talith prayer shawl: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the matte finish of multi-bath Murex shellfish dye on Levantine wool. Slightly warmer than Tyre itself.
