Sterile Geel
Sterile Geel (#D9E8AD) is a soft lime with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (75°, 56%, 79%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Latin sterilis, barren / not-fertile — sharing root with Greek steiros (barren). The color refers to geel-painted seventeenth-century Dutch shutters: a saturated, slightly cool yellow with the matte finish of lead-and-oil paint.
