Wispy Trogon
Wispy Trogon (#D8CDE3) is a soft indigo with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Old English wisp, small bundle — adjectival suffix -y. As a color modifier, wispy implies a pale-and-thin-and-fragmentary quality, the pale color of high-altitude cirrus-and-mares'-tail thin-and-fragmentary cloud-fragment atmospheric-condition. Central- and South-American Trogon family — particularly the violaceous trogon (Trogon violaceus) of Amazonian-rainforest canopies, whose breeding-plumage males have iridescent deep-violet head-and-breast plumage. Trogon color refers to a Trogon violaceus male's breast feather field: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the iridescent satin finish of structurally colored feather barbs over melanin substrate.
