Pellucid Iolite (#D7BAE7) is a soft indigo with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (279°, 48%, 82%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. A magnesium-iron silicate gem — cordierite — whose strong dichroism (different colors from different angles) reportedly served Viking navigators as a polarizing filter to locate the sun through cloud.
