Spangled Ube

Middle Dutch spange, clasp / metal-disc — past-participle of spangle. Ube color refers to a freshly mashed Dioscorea alata tuber-flesh: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the matte finish of anthocyanin-rich starchy yam-pulp. The Tagalog name ube derives from the Cebuano ubi.
