Sheer Pumice
Sheer Pumice (#D6D0B7) is a soft amber with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (48°, 27%, 78%) places it in the muted band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary blue. Old English scīr, clear, pure — used as a color modifier since the eighteenth century for hues with the optical translucency of fine fabric. Pumice color refers to a freshly cleaved Pompeii-Pumice pyroclastic-flow deposit face: a pale cool gray with the matte finish of cooling-rate-quenched highly-vesicular silicic-magma-glass with the characteristic pumice-stone macroporosity.
