Lucid Macaw

#d5faaf
Notes

Lucid Macaw (#D5FAAF) is a soft lime with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (90°, 88%, 83%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.

Etymology

Lucid
adjective

Latin lūcidus, clear / bright — derived from lūx (light). As a color modifier, lucid implies a clear-and-readable quality where the hue is unambiguous and free of optical clutter. Sits at the crisp-and-clear end of the grid, parallel to pellucid and plain in usage.

Macaw
noun

The genus Ara — large neotropical parrots — particularly A. militaris (military macaw) whose plumage is dominated by saturated green. The color refers to a military macaw's wing covers: a saturated, slightly cool deep green with the matte finish of structural-and-pigment feather color. Cooler than parakeet.

Moderately saturated colors gain a small bump in P3 — the difference is usually visible side-by-side on wide-gamut hardware but won't change the character of the color.
