Whitened Sodalite
Whitened Sodalite (#D3FCFB) is a soft cyan with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (179°, 87%, 91%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Old English hwītian, to whiten — past-participle of whiten. As a color modifier, whitened implies a pale-and-white-shifted-and-bleached quality, the pale color of Andalusian-village freshly-whitewashed-and-lime-painted village-architecture surface-finish. Sits at the pale-and-bleached end of the grid, parallel to bleached and blanched in usage.
A sodium-aluminum silicate mineral — saturated blue, mined principally in Brazil, Russia, and Greenland. Sodalite is one of the four lazurite-group blue minerals (with lazurite, hauyne, and nosean). The color refers to a polished Brazilian sodalite cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the matte finish of opaque silicate.
