Hazy Ammolite
Hazy Ammolite (#D3EDDC) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (141°, 42%, 88%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary magenta. Etymology
An adjectival form of haze — used as a color modifier since the eighteenth century for hues that read as if seen through atmospheric haze. Hazy yellow, hazy blue: low saturation combined with optical softness. Sits at the pale-bucket alongside misty and cloudlike.
The fossilized iridescent shell of Placenticeras ammonites — mined principally from the Bearpaw Formation in southern Alberta, Canada. The color refers to a polished ammolite cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the iridescent satin finish of structurally colored ancient nacre.
