Squared Pistachio
Squared Pistachio (#D2FAAB) is a soft lime with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (90°, 89%, 83%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Latin quadrātus, four-sided — past-participle of square. As a color modifier, squared implies a clear-and-rectilinear-and-orthogonal quality where the hue carries the visual register of right-angle architectural-and-grid alignment. Sits at the crisp-and-balanced end of the grid, parallel to aligned and plumb in usage.
Pistacia vera, the desert tree from western Asia whose green nut has been a delicacy in Iranian and Levantine cooking for at least three thousand years. The color refers to the cotyledon meat inside the shell: a soft, slightly muted yellow-green with the warmth of plant fat. Lighter than sage, deeper than mint, with the unmistakable association of a Sicilian gelato or a Persian pastry.
