Tissue Kyanite
Tissue Kyanite (#CFFEFE) is a soft cyan with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (180°, 96%, 90%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary red. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Old French tissu, woven-cloth — adjectival usage of tissue. As a color modifier, tissue implies a pale-and-thin-and-translucent quality, the pale color of Edwardian-period fine-tissue-paper gift-wrapping-and-archival-protection thin-and-translucent paper-finish. Sits at the pale-and-thin end of the grid, parallel to onionskin and glassine in usage.
An aluminum silicate mineral — named for the Greek kyanos (deep blue), the same root as cyan. Mined principally in Brazil, India, and the United States. The color refers to a polished Brazilian kyanite blade: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the satin finish of fibrous-bladed silicate.
