Squared Hokkaido
Squared Hokkaido (#CFCCF1) is a soft blue with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (245°, 57%, 87%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary yellow. Etymology
Latin quadrātus, four-sided — past-participle of square. As a color modifier, squared implies a clear-and-rectilinear-and-orthogonal quality where the hue carries the visual register of right-angle architectural-and-grid alignment. Japan's northernmost island, home to the Furano lavender fields cultivated since 1948 by Tomita Farm — a Japanese imitation of Provençal lavender agriculture, now a national tourist landmark. Hokkaido color refers to a Furano lavender field at peak bloom: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet with the matte finish of Lavandula angustifolia essential-oil-rich bracts. Slightly cooler than Provençal lavanda.
