Tracer Erythrite
Tracer Erythrite (#CE60ED) is a true violet with a vibrant character. It holds its own as a focal accent, carrying visual weight without tipping into neon territory. Old French tracier, to trace — sharing root with English trace and track. As a color modifier, tracer implies a saturated-and-streak-of-light quality, the bright color of military-tracer-round and long-exposure-photography light-trail visual streak. Cobalt bloom, a hydrated cobalt arsenate mineral that forms as a secondary alteration product on cobalt-rich ores. The mineral is sometimes called cobalt arsenate hydrate. Erythrite color refers to a freshly fractured Schneeberg erythrite crystal cluster: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the matte finish of acicular hydrated cobalt-arsenate crystals. Named for the Greek erythros (red), though the mineral is purple-violet.
