Spick Auvergne
Spick Auvergne (#CDFEA7) is a soft lime with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (94°, 98%, 83%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Old Norse spik-spakr, spike-new — sharing root with spic-and-span. As a color modifier, spick implies a clear-and-newly-cleaned quality where the hue carries the just-polished visual register of fresh-painted-and-fresh-cleaned surfaces. Sits at the crisp-and-clean end of the grid, parallel to spotless and pristine in usage.
The volcanic central French region — and the deep green of Auvergne plateau pasture, Salers cattle grazing land, and the green moss of volcanic-rock walls. Auvergne refers to an Auvergne montagne in early summer: a saturated, slightly muted deep yellow-green with the matte finish of volcanic-soil grass.
