Spangled Sugarcane
Spangled Sugarcane (#CCF897) is a soft lime with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (87°, 87%, 78%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Middle Dutch spange, clasp / metal-disc — past-participle of spangle. As a color modifier, spangled implies a saturated-and-multi-point-reflective quality, the bright color of American-flag-stars and sequined-fabric metallic-disc-and-jewel-decoration. Sits at the bright-and-reflective end of the grid, parallel to glittering and sequined in usage.
Saccharum officinarum, the tropical grass whose stems are pressed for the world's sugar — cultivated since prehistoric times in Papua New Guinea and now grown across the tropical belt. The color refers to fresh sugarcane stalks at harvest: a saturated, slightly cool yellow-green with the satin finish of segmented grass culm.
