Italian bastionato, fortified-with-bastions — past-participle of bastion, derived from bastia (fortified-tower). Diospyros kaki, the East Asian persimmon — a fruit eaten ripe from the tree in Japan since at least the eighth century, where its color is named kaki-iro.
