Spangled Bordo
Spangled Bordo (#CA8FE8) is a soft violet with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Middle Dutch spange, clasp / metal-disc — past-participle of spangle. As a color modifier, spangled implies a saturated-and-multi-point-reflective quality, the bright color of American-flag-stars and sequined-fabric metallic-disc-and-jewel-decoration. Sits at the bright-and-reflective end of the grid, parallel to glittering and sequined in usage.
Polish for Bordeaux — adopted into Polish color terminology as the name for deep wine purple, the dominant Polish-folk church-textile color of the Counter-Reformation period. Bordo color refers to a Polish-Catholic Lenten purple chasuble: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the matte finish of multi-bath fermentation-and-iron-mordant wool. Slightly warmer than Russian purpurnyy.
