Sprayed Jaipur
Sprayed Jaipur (#C7C2DC) is a soft indigo with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (252°, 27%, 81%) places it in the muted band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary yellow. Etymology
Middle Dutch sprayen, to spray — past-participle of spray. As a color modifier, sprayed implies a pale-and-fine-droplet-and-mist-applied quality, the pale color of Mid-Century-Modern spray-painted automotive-and-furniture finely-atomized-and-fine-droplet-pattern surface-finish. Sits at the pale-and-soft end of the grid, parallel to misted and atomized in usage.
The Indian Pink City of Rajasthan, capital of the former Jaipur State of the Rajputana — historical depot for the lapis lazuli trade between Afghanistan and the courts of Hindustan, and home of Sanganeri indigo block-printing. Jaipur color refers to a Sanganeri-block-printed muslin: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet with the matte finish of multi-bath fermentation indigo on hand-printed cotton.
