Whispered Ammolite
Whispered Ammolite (#C6E5CC) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (132°, 37%, 84%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary magenta. Etymology
The past participle of whisper, used metaphorically as a color modifier for hues that read as barely audible — the visual equivalent of a sound so quiet you have to lean in to catch it. Whispered pink, whispered gray: very low saturation combined with high lightness, almost at the perception threshold. Sits at the pale-bucket extreme alongside faint and ghostly.
The fossilized iridescent shell of Placenticeras ammonites — mined principally from the Bearpaw Formation in southern Alberta, Canada. The color refers to a polished ammolite cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the iridescent satin finish of structurally colored ancient nacre.
