Skimming Polar
Skimming Polar (#C6E0DE) is a soft cyan with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Old Norse skimr, brightness — present-participle of skim. As a color modifier, skimming implies a pale-and-surface-light-touching quality where the hue carries the visual register of swallow-flight-and-stone-skipping surface-and-glancing rapid-movement. Of the polar — the ice caps and the meltwater seas at the high latitudes. The color refers to polar sea ice on a clear day at the height of summer melt: a soft, slightly green-shifted very pale blue with the optical brightness of bubble-rich ice.
