Chalky Uvarovite
Chalky Uvarovite (#C4D8C4) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (120°, 20%, 81%) places it in the muted band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Etymology
An adjectival form of chalk — used as a color modifier since the seventeenth century for hues with the matte finish of chalk pigment. Chalky white, chalky blue: low saturation combined with the optical mattness of micron-scale calcium carbonate. Sits at the pale-bucket alongside powder and dusty.
A chromium-rich green garnet — mined principally in the Russian Urals, Finland, and Quebec. Named for Russian Count Sergei Semenovich Uvarov. The color refers to drusy uvarovite crystals on chromite matrix: a saturated, slightly cool deep emerald-green with the gem's signature internal fire.
