Engraved Pitta
Engraved Pitta (#C2BCEE) is a soft blue with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (247°, 60%, 84%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Old French engraver, to dig in — past-participle of engrave. Pitta color refers to the dorsal-feather field of Pitta brachyura: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet with the iridescent satin finish of structurally colored feather barbs. The genus name comes from the Telugu pitta, meaning small bird.
