Greek atmós (vapor) plus spaira (sphere) — adjectival suffix -ic. The color refers to the corolla of a fresh Vinca flower: a soft, slightly violet-shifted pale blue with the matte finish of five-petaled bloom. Lighter than bluebell, cooler than lavender.
