Skimming Lazulite (#C0DCF6) is a soft azure with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (209°, 75%, 86%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Old Norse skimr, brightness — present-participle of skim. As a color modifier, skimming implies a pale-and-surface-light-touching quality where the hue carries the visual register of swallow-flight-and-stone-skipping surface-and-glancing rapid-movement. The color refers to a polished lazulite cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the matte finish of opaque phosphate mineral.
