Stamped Endive
Stamped Endive (#BEFFAA) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (106°, 100%, 83%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old English stempan, to stamp — past-participle of stamp. As a color modifier, stamped implies a clear-and-impressed-and-repeating quality, the crisp color of William-Morris-and-Liberty-of-London block-printed-textile carefully-impressed pattern. Sits at the crisp-and-printed end of the grid, parallel to printed and engraved in usage.
Cichorium endivia, the slightly bitter European chicory cultivated as a salad green since Egyptian times. The color refers to the inner leaves of a head of curly endive or escarole: a soft, slightly yellow-shifted green with the matte finish of dewy lettuce. Lighter than lime, more chromatic than celery, with the cool-weather association of late-fall greenhouse production.
