Printed Auvergne
Printed Auvergne (#BEEDA1) is a soft lime with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (97°, 68%, 78%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Latin premere, to press — past-participle of print. As a color modifier, printed implies a clear-and-impressed-and-multiplied quality, the crisp color of Marimekko-and-Liberty-of-London hand-or-machine-printed textile-and-paper pattern-design. Sits at the crisp-and-printed end of the grid, parallel to stamped and etched in usage.
The volcanic central French region — and the deep green of Auvergne plateau pasture, Salers cattle grazing land, and the green moss of volcanic-rock walls. Auvergne refers to an Auvergne montagne in early summer: a saturated, slightly muted deep yellow-green with the matte finish of volcanic-soil grass.
