Prismatic Variscite (#BEE460) is a true lime with a vibrant character. It holds its own as a focal accent, carrying visual weight without tipping into neon territory. Its HSL profile (77°, 71%, 64%) places it in the balanced band at a mid lightness. It works across type, buttons, and borders, saturated enough to feel deliberate but balanced enough to not fight the rest of the palette. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Greek prísma, prism — adjectival suffix -ic. As a color modifier, prismatic implies a saturated-and-multi-spectrum-decomposed quality, the bright color of crystal-prism and cut-glass-chandelier light-refraction-spectrum decomposition. Sits at the bright-and-shifting end of the grid, parallel to iridescent and spectral in usage.
A hydrated aluminum phosphate mineral — yellow-green to blue-green in color, mined principally in Utah and Australia. Often confused with low-grade turquoise. The color refers to a polished variscite cabochon: a soft, slightly muted yellow-green with the matte finish of opaque mineral. Cooler than prehnite.
