Established Henna
Established Henna (#BE1302) is a true red with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (5°, 98%, 38%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Lawsonia inermis, the small flowering shrub of North Africa and South Asia whose dried leaves yield a red-brown dye used since the Bronze Age for skin, hair, and textile. The color refers to fresh henna paste applied to skin, where it oxidizes to a deep brick-red over forty-eight hours. Earthier than rose, more orange than maroon, with the slow-developed quality particular to plant-based dye.
