Squared Sugarcane
Squared Sugarcane (#BCEFA1) is a soft lime with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (99°, 71%, 78%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. Latin quadrātus, four-sided — past-participle of square. As a color modifier, squared implies a clear-and-rectilinear-and-orthogonal quality where the hue carries the visual register of right-angle architectural-and-grid alignment. Saccharum officinarum, the tropical grass whose stems are pressed for the world's sugar — cultivated since prehistoric times in Papua New Guinea and now grown across the tropical belt. The color refers to fresh sugarcane stalks at harvest: a saturated, slightly cool yellow-green with the satin finish of segmented grass culm.
