Sifted Turchese
Sifted Turchese (#BCE3F7) is a soft azure with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (200°, 79%, 85%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old English siftan, to sift — past-participle of sift. As a color modifier, sifted implies a pale-and-fine-particle-and-uniformly-distributed quality, the pale color of baker's sifted-and-fine-flour finely-distributed-and-uniform-deposit surface-finish. Sits at the pale-and-soft end of the grid, parallel to dusted and sprinkled in usage.
The Italian word for turquoise — borrowed via medieval trade from Turkish stone (pierre de Turquie). The color refers to a turchese-glazed Venetian Murano-glass piece: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the high gloss of fired glass. The Italian cousin of türkis.
