Spangled Helio
Spangled Helio (#BC57F4) is a true indigo with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Middle Dutch spange, clasp / metal-disc — past-participle of spangle. As a color modifier, spangled implies a saturated-and-multi-point-reflective quality, the bright color of American-flag-stars and sequined-fabric metallic-disc-and-jewel-decoration. Sits at the bright-and-reflective end of the grid, parallel to glittering and sequined in usage.
A shortened form of heliotrope — sometimes used as a slightly more genteel color name in late-Victorian fashion catalogues, particularly for the pale lavender-purple silks of mourning dress's transition out of full black. The color refers to a Victorian Helio silk: a soft, slightly muted pale purple with the satiny finish of a fabric dyed to register a specific point in the mourning calendar. Lighter than mauve, cooler than lilac.
