Squared Ammolite
Squared Ammolite (#BBFFF2) is a soft teal with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (169°, 100%, 87%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Latin quadrātus, four-sided — past-participle of square. As a color modifier, squared implies a clear-and-rectilinear-and-orthogonal quality where the hue carries the visual register of right-angle architectural-and-grid alignment. Sits at the crisp-and-balanced end of the grid, parallel to aligned and plumb in usage.
The fossilized iridescent shell of Placenticeras ammonites — mined principally from the Bearpaw Formation in southern Alberta, Canada. The color refers to a polished ammolite cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the iridescent satin finish of structurally colored ancient nacre.
