Lit Endive
Lit Endive (#BAFC9D) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (102°, 94%, 80%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary violet. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
The past participle of light — short and modern. Used as a color word since the late twentieth century for hues that read as if they were illuminated. Lit yellow, lit pink: the implication is luminance combined with the slight optical impression of an internal light source. Sits in the bright-bucket extreme alongside electric.
Cichorium endivia, the slightly bitter European chicory cultivated as a salad green since Egyptian times. The color refers to the inner leaves of a head of curly endive or escarole: a soft, slightly yellow-shifted green with the matte finish of dewy lettuce. Lighter than lime, more chromatic than celery, with the cool-weather association of late-fall greenhouse production.
