Gauzy Catmint
Gauzy Catmint (#B8D9C7) is a soft teal with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Etymology
An adjectival form of gauze, the open-weave fabric named for the Palestinian city of Gaza. Used as a color modifier since the eighteenth century for hues with the optical translucency of loose-weave fabric. Gauzy white, gauzy pink: very low saturation combined with optical openness. Sits at the pale-bucket alongside sheer and veiled.
The genus Nepeta — particularly N. mussinii (catmint), the cottage-garden perennial with silver-green foliage and lavender-blue flower spikes. The color refers to a fresh catmint clump in May: a soft, slightly cool gray-green with the matte finish of small mint-family leaves. Cooler than santolina.
