Strobing Bamboo
Strobing Bamboo (#B5FD99) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Greek stróbos, whirling — present-participle of strobe. As a color modifier, strobing implies a saturated-and-pulse-flashing quality, the bright color of concert-strobe-light and photographic-strobe high-frequency-pulse light emission. Sits at the bright-and-flashing end of the grid, parallel to flashing and pulsating in usage.
The subfamily Bambusoideae — fast-growing tropical and temperate grasses essential to East Asian architecture, scaffolding, and cuisine. Bamboo color refers to fresh bamboo culms in a Kyoto garden: a saturated, slightly cool yellow-green with the satin finish of segmented culm. Cooler than yamabuki.
