Greek anti- (against) plus sēptikós (putrefying) — adjectival suffix -ic. Aizu color refers to a freshly aizu-momen-woven indigo cotton: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet with the matte finish of multi-bath natural indigo on hand-spun cotton.
