Open Anhydrite
Open Anhydrite (#B0CCF6) is a soft azure with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (216°, 80%, 83%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Old English open, unobstructed — used as a color modifier since the eighteenth century for hues that read as airy or uncrowded. A calcium sulfate mineral — the anhydrous form of gypsum — sometimes occurring in saturated deep-blue varieties known as Angelite or Blue Anhydrite. Mined principally in Peru. The color refers to a polished blue anhydrite cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the matte finish of opaque sulfate mineral.
