Pressed Fioletovyy (#ADB5F1) is a soft blue with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Latin pressāre, to press — past-participle of press. As a color modifier, pressed implies a clear-and-smoothed-and-flattened quality, the crisp color of Mid-Century-Modern freshly-pressed-shirt-and-trouser ironed-textile finish. Fioletovyy color refers to a Russian Orthodox Lenten epitrachelion stole: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet with the matte finish of dyed liturgical silk-and-wool. Russian color terminology distinguishes sinii (deep blue) from fioletovyy (violet).
