Tinged Hokkaido
Tinged Hokkaido (#ABABC1) is a soft blue with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Quiet and dependable, a fit for product UI and data visualization. Its HSL profile (240°, 15%, 71%) places it in the muted band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. Latin tinguere, to dip / dye — past-participle of tinge. As a color modifier, tinged implies a pale-and-slightly-colored quality where the hue carries the visual register of base-white-or-neutral barely-touched-by-pigment surface. Japan's northernmost island, home to the Furano lavender fields cultivated since 1948 by Tomita Farm — a Japanese imitation of Provençal lavender agriculture, now a national tourist landmark. Hokkaido color refers to a Furano lavender field at peak bloom: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet with the matte finish of Lavandula angustifolia essential-oil-rich bracts. Slightly cooler than Provençal lavanda.
