Strobing Snapdragon (#AAB012) is a true yellow with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (62°, 81%, 38%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Greek stróbos, whirling — present-participle of strobe. As a color modifier, strobing implies a saturated-and-pulse-flashing quality, the bright color of concert-strobe-light and photographic-strobe high-frequency-pulse light emission. Sits at the bright-and-flashing end of the grid, parallel to flashing and pulsating in usage.
The genus Antirrhinum — particularly A. majus, the cottage-garden biennial whose tall flower spikes feature snapping dragon-mouth blooms in pinks, oranges, and yellows. The color refers to a yellow snapdragon bloom: a saturated, slightly red-shifted bright yellow with the matte finish of bee-pollinated flower stack.
