Alit Prehnite
Alit Prehnite (#A9FA9A) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Old English ā-lihtan, to alight — past-participle of alight. As a color modifier, alit implies a saturated-and-just-illuminated quality, the bright color of evening-streetlamp and Christmas-tree-light freshly-switched-on emission. Sits at the bright-and-warm end of the grid, parallel to aflame and aglow in usage.
A calcium-aluminum silicate gem — yellow-green, often translucent, mined principally in Australia, Mali, and Scotland. The color refers to a polished Australian prehnite cabochon: a soft, slightly cool yellow-green with the cloudy translucency of low-grade gem material. Cooler than peridot.
