Forthright Stola (#A93ACD) is a true violet with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Old English forð-riht, straight ahead, direct. Used as a color modifier in Anglo-Saxon-revival contexts for hues that read as honest and unguarded. The Roman matron's long ceremonial robe — particularly the stola worn by Roman empresses and vestal virgins, often dyed in graduated Tyrian purple layers as a marker of social rank. Stola color refers to an imperial Roman Livia-period stola: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the matte finish of multi-bath Tyrian shellfish-dye on Roman wool. Distinct from the unmarried-woman tunica and the slave colobium.
