Acidic Hiddenite
Acidic Hiddenite (#A8FD9B) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (112°, 96%, 80%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary violet. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Latin acidus, sour — adjectival suffix -ic, sharing root with acetic and acerbic. As a color modifier, acidic implies a saturated-and-citric-and-sour quality, the bright color of lime-zest-and-pickled-lime citrus-fruit pulp surface. Sits at the bright-and-cool end of the grid, parallel to acid and electric in usage.
The chromium-rich green variety of spodumene — discovered in 1879 in Hiddenite, North Carolina, where it was named for mineralogist William E. Hidden. The color refers to a faceted hiddenite: a saturated, slightly cool yellow-green with the gem's signature internal life. Cooler than tsavorite.
