Gauzy Larimar
Gauzy Larimar (#A8CECE) is a soft cyan with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Quiet and dependable, a fit for product UI and data visualization. Its HSL profile (180°, 28%, 73%) places it in the muted band at a light lightness. Etymology
An adjectival form of gauze, the open-weave fabric named for the Palestinian city of Gaza. Used as a color modifier since the eighteenth century for hues with the optical translucency of loose-weave fabric. Gauzy white, gauzy pink: very low saturation combined with optical openness. Sits at the pale-bucket alongside sheer and veiled.
A blue variety of pectolite — a calcium-sodium silicate — found only in one mountain range in the Dominican Republic. Marketed as a gemstone since the 1970s and named after a Spanish word for the sea. The color refers to a polished larimar cabochon: a soft, slightly muted light blue with the cloudy translucency of pectolite. Lighter than aqua, warmer than glacier, with the gem-trade specificity of a stone that occurs in exactly one place on Earth.
