Aligned Kalmia
Aligned Kalmia (#A7ADF9) is a soft blue with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (236°, 87%, 82%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. French à-ligne, to-line-up — past-participle of align. North American mountain laurel (Kalmia latifolia) — an Ericaceae evergreen shrub native to Appalachia, with cup-shaped pink-and-violet pentahedral flowers in late spring. Kalmia color refers to a fully bloomed Kalmia latifolia corymb: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet with the velvet finish of fused-petaled cup flowers around a tense ring of bow-loaded stamens. Named for Pehr Kalm, Linnaeus's Swedish-Finnish student-botanist.
