Spangled Uvarovite (#A6F99E) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Middle Dutch spange, clasp / metal-disc — past-participle of spangle. As a color modifier, spangled implies a saturated-and-multi-point-reflective quality, the bright color of American-flag-stars and sequined-fabric metallic-disc-and-jewel-decoration. Sits at the bright-and-reflective end of the grid, parallel to glittering and sequined in usage.
A chromium-rich green garnet — mined principally in the Russian Urals, Finland, and Quebec. Named for Russian Count Sergei Semenovich Uvarov. The color refers to drusy uvarovite crystals on chromite matrix: a saturated, slightly cool deep emerald-green with the gem's signature internal fire.
