Ironed Chrysoprase
Ironed Chrysoprase (#A3FED8) is a soft teal with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Old English īsern, iron — past-participle of iron. As a color modifier, ironed implies a clear-and-smoothed-and-pressed quality, the crisp color of Mid-Century-Modern freshly-ironed-shirt-and-trouser dress-attire textile finish. Sits at the crisp-and-finished end of the grid, parallel to pressed and starched in usage.
An apple-green variety of chalcedony — colored by trace nickel, mined principally in Australia, Poland, and Madagascar. The color refers to a polished Australian chrysoprase: a saturated, slightly cool yellow-green-blue with the matte translucency of cryptocrystalline silica. Cooler than apple.
