Royal Cleome
Royal Cleome (#A1108B) is a true violet with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Etymology
The blue of European royal court dress and regalia from the late seventeenth century forward — the color of British peers' robes, French royal sashes, the lining of the crown-jewel cases. The color refers to a saturated, slightly violet-shifted blue with the matte finish of velvet or melton wool dyed to maximum intensity: deeper than cornflower, warmer than ultramarine, with the heraldic weight of a color reserved for monarchs and the official Crown.

Cleome color refers to a fully bloomed Cleome hassleriana terminal raceme: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the velvet finish of fresh four-petaled long-stamened spider-flower corollas. The genus name comes from the Greek kleíō, to enclose, after the bud-cluster structure.
