Searing Pommery
Searing Pommery (#A0AB01) is a deep yellow with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (64°, 99%, 34%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary blue. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Old English sēarian, to wither — present-participle of sear. As a color modifier, searing implies a saturated-and-burning-touch-hot quality, the bright color of cast-iron-griddle high-heat surface-emission. Sits at the bright-and-warm end of the grid, parallel to scorching and blazing in usage.
The Champagne house founded in Reims in 1858 — and the saturated yellow of Pommery Brut Royal vintage labeling. Pommery refers to a vintage Pommery Champagne in a flute: a soft, slightly cool warm pale yellow with the optical clarity of long-aged sparkling wine. Warmer than champagne.
